How thick is it, and will my door clear it?

This is a high-pile rug and it will not clear most interior doors that open inward. Measure the gap under your door before ordering for a bedroom or an entryway. If you need a low profile, the Keen Home Design Tide collection is 0.25 in.
Does it shed?

No. It is machine woven, not tufted, so there is no loose fiber layer. It will not leave fluff on dark floors, on socks or in a vacuum canister. An occasional loose fiber can be trimmed with scissors; do not pull it.
Is it machine washable?

How soft is it really?

Dense and plush, springy rather than flat, and warm on hard floors. It is the collection to choose if you want to sit on the floor or step out of bed onto something soft.
Do I need a rug pad?

On bare hardwood, laminate or tile, yes: a pad stops movement and extends the life of the pile. Over carpet a pad is not necessary.
